Help !!!!! been practicing with a metronome for years , still suck but have worked up alt. picking to120 bpm 16 notes per beat. when iwas slower wound tend to dip pick into the strings causing much string slaping type noises now my picking smoother but my fingers lock and i am not holding the pick tight enough so the pick slips out i posted in another thread about alternate picking https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=24359 i posted tips about string tightness, where to focus the movement, and pick chioces. have a read |

As Ramiro said, choosing the right picking grip balance is the key. Take some time to analyze the picking technique and see what you can come up with regarding holding a pick. You must hold it so it doesn't slip off and that you don't grip it too hard. Also be careful about the angle of the pick. If you dig in a lot, and you don't hold it parallel with the string, it will tend to fall out of the grip.
