Did that get anyone's attention? LOL... I have been with GMC for a few weeks and as I stated in my "Introduction" post, I was a little apprehensive about joining "online" guitar classes, but I will have to say that GMC is with out a doubt the most TERRIBLY AWESOME move that I could have made in advancing towards my guitar learning. Every one of you guys.... Instructors and fellow students have been really cool people that I have had the pleasure of hanging out with and getting to know.

I just felt the need to post a note of appreciation for this community. As long as I can keep paying the rent, I'll be on board.

Oh, and did I mention BALLS!? ohmy.gif

Thanks guys!!!

Mark

Thanks Rich, and if that is your guitar in that profile pic NICE! I like that color. Saw an older model San Dimas looking guitar on Ebay that someone gutted out that was that color. I wanted to get it, but they had $350 just for the body and neck... It was nice looking though...

Yea, couldn't help posting it that way. Figured everyone would be more likely to take a look with that title. smile.gif

If you are here, and you are trying/playing whatever level you are at you ROCK! Everyone started somewhere. .... Just feel like I start from square one half the time, I think I have guitar Alzheimers. I learn something, then forget how to play it the next day. lol Oh well, the same lesson over and over gives me something new to learn every day. smile.gif I guess that's why they invented GMC and practice right?

Hey you're more than welcome Mark, Yeah thats one of my guitars and thanks smile.gif , the color in the picture is a little off tho, or I guess it could be my graphics making it look blueish to me, it's actually more green than blue, so greener and a slightly darker shade if it looks blue to you as well, The color is Surf Green I think, It's an old Kramer I picked up on Craigslist a few years back with a Warmoth neck which I like the most about it.
Although I do like the color myself smile.gif

Nice thread title, Marc!

GMC sure is a great community with awesome people from all over the world. And with a tiny bit of practice, you'll get better in no time!
Even I became better over time, although I hardly sit down and go through with a well thought practice routine, but simply jam over the collab backing tracks or learn the fun and easy lessons here. laugh.gif

And Gary, as long as you are my drinking buddy in Todd's chats nobody will dare to kick you out!! wink.gif And I know you RAWK as well smile.gif

The lessons here are great, but what really makes this place great is the community.

It's a combination of the lessons, instructors and community that motivates me to practice and work at things.

I've been on one similar site and the chief moderator of the forum (who has access to all content) has been there for years, and when he put up a video of his playing, his guitar was out of tune and he could barely strum a 4 chord sequence, yet he advises people on which course to buy. No one gave constructive criticism of his playing either.

Here people show there playing, look for comments to improve and walk the walk. there's no ego or keyboard warrior (I shred at 200 bpm crap).

It's the first place I come to when I log on in the morning

Oh yea, I love the Kramer guitars. Which Kramer is it? I recently got one of the new Pacers and I have to say that the latest ones are decent. They aren't a MIJ Jackson, but I like it... it has become my regular.

Yes, I have noticed no EGO's thrown around. That's the best part no matter how good you are, if you are that good help the rest of us out. I just like to learn and have fun with it. I'm still finding new things to the site that I haven't even looked through yet. It is awesome indeed!

To be honest I haven't been able to accurately determine the model or the year it was produced, It has an Original Floyd Rose trem on it but as I mentioned before the neck had been replaced before I got my hands on it and it has a Warmoth neck, Also the bridge pickup was replaced with a Mighty Mite pickup, It could be a mid 80's model but it also could be one of those Music-yo kramer bodies from the 90's, the serial number on the neckplate seems to suggest the latter. Eventually I want to completely upgrade all the pickups and POT's to make it a little more modern sounding and less noisy, especially the single coils, they sit very low in the body and have no height adjustment which seems kind of lame to me and they really don't sound that good and have a much lower output than the Humbucker in the bridge position.

I am actually a perfectionist & put high standards on myself. That can really be a handicap. And I was disappointed with my first REC take but I had to get one "in the can", so to speak. I am hoping that getting my guitars setup correctly will help my out of tune problem & practice with the rest wink.gif . But watching all the audio, video & REC takes, it's a little intimidating seeing the amount of talent on this site which is over the top.

I've just got to find a way to manage my time better so I can make more time to practice. smile.gif

I totally believe in this (the others too, but this one describes my outlook very well). Take your work deadly serious.. but never yourself. That's why you'll always find me posting silly threads like Bovine Facts etc.. biggrin.gif
