The reasons the ENGL Powerball and Blackmoore fell off was that the ENGL models didn't have the exact crunch and lead I was looking for. If I was in a Numetal band for modern chugging, yes. I'd get EMG81 pu's and a Powerball. But for versatility, not for me. Marshall... yeah well, if the JVM had been out I maybe would have got that one instead., but none of the present ones were all what I needed. Now Marshall has the JVM model family and ENGL has a couple of new amps that could be interesting too. -------------------- My bands homepage

Thanks for the update on the Terror. I think I mentioned it before but the one I checked I didn't like at all (old band mates amp). But if one can bring better life to it with JJ tubes it could be an amp worth condidering.

Well, people do say that there is an "Orange" sound and either you like it or you don't, I would say there is probably some truth in that. Changing the tubes made a big difference for me, but essentially the tone has not changed, just sounds uncompressed and a bit more gain. With the new tubes I would say the TT does do metal (without additional effects), and that metal is kinda old style "pure distortion" if you get my drift. Anything else and you do need a pedal.
