I am building a desktop computer for recording and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on what operating system will work best for that application. I am so used to using windows xp that I am hesitant to make that switch based on the things I have heard about vista. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks biggrin.gif

My main computer at home is still running XP, this is where I normally work with Pro Tools, and it is a very stable and reliable setup. On my laptop I am using Vista, and I have to say that so far (I switched to that laptop about a year ago) I never had any problems with Vista. I have a Pro tools setup on that laptop too and it is working perfectly fine, so I don't see any problems switching to Vista. YOu have to make sure though that all the software and hardware that you want to use is compatible with Vista, without proper drivers it would turn into a nightmare for sure. And you also have to be aware of the fact that Vista needs more resources compared to XP, so the same computer will work a bit faster with XP compared to Vista.
