Wanted a smooth breaking light distortion similar to a ds1 but more amp-like sounding. My expectation wasn't very wrong when I bought it and got home, its definitly more amp-like on the clean channel but not enough for me
Thinking -meh I'd sell it with little money loss (got new but with a nice discount from my friend who works in a store), wanted to give it a shot before my EHX Glove. I love that pedal but a ts9 couldn't boost it proper and even my clean booster can't push it much before it sounds simply wierd. But to my surprise it sounded great with the 78!
I don't have a ds1 to compare side-by-side (a friend of mine has one, will post if I get to compare) but the first difference I noticed was the tone control was much more usable, either working on clean or dirty amp sound. The crunch button sort of boosts and compresses its sound but to me doesn't change the breakup character much. When boosting an overdrive though, it helps prevent the bass notes get mushy. I believe thats the main function of that button rather than trying to emulate a more amp-like sound.
Its only been a few hours since I bought it so I'm still experimenting, but this video sort of explains how I use it. Will share some sounds later on hopefully.

Always fun to experiment with new tones. Love trying old rack gear as well. Always fun stuff and can be had for cheap.
