I did a quick tone test of a mid gain patch on my Hotone Ampero through my little battery powerd Blackstar Fly 3. The fly 3 is the worst sounding amp I've ever tested. 3 inch speaker, bit crap imho. I recorded on my cell phone so as not to have a good mic getting in the way smile.gif It's raw and just about like it sounds in the room. The one thing the Ampero doesn't do well is low/mid gain imho. It does high gain quite well and clean quite well. Mid gain is the trouble spot for most units I've tried in the budget range.

Whaddya think? Ken in particular.

That sounds pretty good to me. I like that you can hear your fingers and pick 'on the strings'.
How 'loud' was it in the room?

For practice in a room, I think it sounds good.

I first tried a Fly 3 in Nashville, and it's a really nice little amp when it comes to quickly plug and noodle a bit until the food is ready biggrin.gif

It was not loud. The amp lives under my laptop on a desk so it's not far from my ears. It doesn't get very loud even when cranked all the way up. It's designed to run on batteries and be portable. The housing is made of plastic. It's a very cheap, light, small amp that's easy to put just about anywhere. By itself it does not sound anywhere near as good as it does with the ampero in front of it. I plan on micing it up with a 57 just to see what it sounds like with a real mic. Thanks for taking a listen!

It would make a great "kitchen amp" smile.gif Could sit on top the kitchen table as it's about the size of a napkin holder. Handy to plug in and wait for the microwave to go ding smile.gif

Ola did something similar with the Katana mini.

Todd maybe you can do a comparison between these two mini amps biggrin.gif
