I have been playing guitar for about 10 months, but have deep experience playing the saxophone. That has helped me tremendously applying theory and providing a head start reading music.
Currently, I am working on dexterity techniques, to help me flawlessly do the lessons I am leaning towards. I like Gabriel Leopardi's style and seem to gravitate towards his lessons. I have most of Blues Licks Lesson 2 down. In fact I have all of it down. Lack of dexterity is keeping me from playing it at his tempo. Same goes for blues licks 3. I also am currently working on his Joe Satriani style Rock Lesson.
I need to work on my dexterity. I have been playing scales up and down to help improve dexterity and quickness, but only on the lower end of the fretboard. Also, I believe more time should be spent on theory, so I have a complete understanding of what I can or should be playing when I hear a particular chord.
I have a Martin Acoustic and a Gibson Les Paul Studio with a small Fender 15G amp. I hope that helps!
