I recently purchased Addictive Drums to use with Reaper. It sounds great and has nice features. Last night I tried to actually compose a backing track with it, and was sort of disappointed with the software. I'm not saying it is AD's fault, because I am new to it and I am by no means a drummer.

I couldn't really find much use out of their preloaded beats and fills. I needed simple beats. Is there a way to download more for free? Or is this where I have to have a midi controller/pad to make my own beats.

This might be a good time to buy a drum pad midi controller. But.. do I have to play perfectly? Or do I just have to get close, and AD will drop the notes in the right spaces.

Groove Monkee have a really great free sample set. http://www.groovemonkee.com/en/free-midi

I did the drums in this track using a couple of those freebies. http://soundcloud.com/cruciform/dirty-drains

If you go through here one by one, each set has a small selection of freebies you can individually grab http://www.prosonic-studios.com/Midi-Phras...rarySubCatID=14

I know you will need to drag one of the simpler beats to your midi track and then edit the midi track manually. I do it like that. smile.gif

Got it, thanks guys. I am considering a MIDI controller percussion pad as well, which I was discussing on a separate thread.
