Two questions:

How much should I focus on the theory compared to playing the guitar?

Right now my biggest problem (well, I AM getting better at it) is that my fingers dont always end up where they should on the string that is played and of course the tone doesnt sound right then. Is there some "good" way of training this?

1) I have a good answer for this (imho) - you should strive to practice as much as possible. So if theory turns you off and makes you practice for 30 minutes instead of an hour. Then skip it!

Now if it doesn't - go hard for it, we all know how useful it is once you start mastering it.

2) Yes, if you slow the metronome down even further you practice both tone and precise finger placement.

cheers

Kris
