METAL has gone back to it's original home in the underground, here in the states at least. The last radio station here that played any music with an actual guitar is now gone and switched to playing lady Gaga. It's a bit sad. But you just can't kill Metal. It has flourished in Europe and South American where fans in generally seem to just be more discerning on the whole. Here in the states, it's become common for bands to have to leave the country to play decent sized gigs and then come back here and play to 10 people on a Tuesday.
Such is the way of things. I'm glad to see good music still lives. There are still great bands. But the perversion of "Popular/glam/pop" Metal here in the states was always doomed to die since it stemmed from "Trendiness". Some good stuff came out of it, but it remains confined to a very specific demographic.
So stay Metal and Move to Europe/Brazil

why was something so popular die so quickly
I think the romance of the music was taken out
i.e 'I remember you" skid row-a song about passion and romance(even though it rocked), still of the night , to name another
and even if you are not singing about ladies , their still can be passion
and can passion come across when all there is is a constant vocal fry?
