This is horrible - war is so unnecessary and devastating. We saw this on the news yesterday.

We feel with you Eyal.

Heya,

I hope you're okay. I have had some similar experiences, I was born and raised in Northern Ireland during the late 70's, I left there about 10 years ago. The North is far larger than Gaza, so the intensity of what you're witnessing must be much greater than anything we experienced. However, bombings, killings, heavy military presence, and the occasional riot sort of became an acceptable part of life, for my friends and I. To be honest, when I first moved away, it stood out in my mind that police officers in other countries didn't have assault rifles as standard issue, and there were no helicopters in the sky!

The only ray of hope that I can offer is that the political situation in Gaza shares a similar history to Northern Ireland. There's a power struggle between the two sects of people in the area, and at the moment there doesn't seem to be enough trust for either to give an inch. However, last week I was back in Northern Ireland (my grandfathers funeral), and the day I was leaving, I saw two leaders who 10 years ago wouldn't even look at each other, agree to share power in my country. So hopefully the tide has changed forever in Northern Ireland, and hopefully the tide will change in your country too.

All the best
