I always stop playing if I start getting stabbing pains / cramps / pins and needles in my hands but is a bit of burn healthy?

When playing strength exercises I feel I should push myself until my arm starts to ache "burn" a bit.

Makes sense to me aslong as I stop before risking injury.

Opinions?
