The average sprinting speed of a human swimming is 3.7 mph that abou 971 hours and about 40 days at max speed. Maybe he should have just made a phone call to spread some olympic spirit

haha some people are crazy.
Check this guy out. He apparently was the first to swim across the Atlantic and it's obvious he spent a lot of time in preparation. Some people are nuts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beno%C3%AEt_Lecomte

It must take balls of steel to even be in the water, knowing there are sharks nearby.. It's a bit unfair how they try to cast doubt on his achievement in the wiki article though... some people just have to try and pick fault don't they ?
