Yikes. 3595 miles!! The average sprinting speed of a human swimming is 3.7 mph that abou 971 hours and about 40 days at max speed. Maybe he should have just made a phone call to spread some olympic spirit tongue.gif

Yeah, you're right. And I bet things like sharks, and lack of food, fresh water and sleep might have slowed him down a bit too!!! laugh.gif

haha some people are crazy.

Check this guy out. He apparently was the first to swim across the Atlantic and it's obvious he spent a lot of time in preparation. Some people are nuts laugh.gif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beno%C3%AEt_Lecomte

Oh man, he just went out on his own like that without food or water? Crazy!

I like how that wiki includes "he was followed by a Great White for 5 days". ohmy.gif

haha I know, that would be scare as @#$% blink.gif

That article still has me laughing. It's just funny to think this guy randomly decides to swim the Atlantic and suddenly begins his journey with complete confidence. What's he going to eat and drink, and how would he sleep? I wonder if he thought he could do it in a couple days... rolleyes.gif

Man, it is just incredible to even contemplate such a feat. It must take balls of steel to even be in the water, knowing there are sharks nearby..

It's a bit unfair how they try to cast doubt on his achievement in the wiki article though... some people just have to try and pick fault don't they ? rolleyes.gif

It seems that way with almost everything nowadays!

It's crazy how he needs 8000 calories to keep him swimming 8 hours a day. I wonder what kind of condition his body was in after he finished. Imagine working out 8 hours a day for 73 days straight. tongue.gif
