HERE I AM! biggrin.gif

Listen to this one and tell me what you think wink.gif

Dream Theater - Hollow Years (live at Budokan, 2004)

This video features Petrucci's most beautiful solo to date, in my opinion. I'm sure you'll love it. smile.gif

By the way, if you have Spotify I can send you a playlist with what I find to be some of their greatest songs... smile.gif If not, I could just post them here wink.gif

Pretty much any album by them is a masterpiece. Black Clouds and Silver Linings, there newest, is a phenomenal release and has some of there best material to date. Systematic Chaos however, to me is there best. The songs In The Presence Of Enemies Parts 1 and 2 are some of THE most original, intense, beautiful, and creative pieces of music, Absolutely stunning.

Also, Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is a must, the nearly 45 minute song (Which has the same name as the album) is another work of art.

As for individual songs, well everyone above has a fantastic list, I would just like to add New Millennium, Glass Prison, and one of my favorite songs, As I Am smile.gif

This is my favorite DT song....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXK9oTOPGWc

I heard the band members say in an interview once that when non-DT fans ask DT fans what album to start with if they want to check out DT..then please tell them to get 'Octavarium'. They said it is the album that best exmeplifies their style and sound...and the album I think they are most proud of.

Some killer replies with great tracks. It's hard to go wrong with DT. John P is honestly a brilliant player. Learning some of his solos would be a great way to pickup licks and learn the art of the solo. Watch the vids folks have shared and pick some songs to start picking apart. You are in for a treat.

Todd

Dream Theater is one of my very favourite bands.

I finally got to see them last summer and I am going to go see them again this summer playing with Iron Maiden.

Among the others mentioned here, I really like Panic Attack too.

The red square in my sig picture is the Dream Theater logo!

Dream Theater is my favorite band you really can learn so much from John Petrucci. And you can see how every member comes through on each album. I can never get over the overall sound and feeling from the album Images and Words. Such great music from them =] Listen to Take the Time !!!!!
