Hi Guys

My GF's son has a Advent T3400 laptop and wants to know what games he can run...

Not a lot is my initial thoughts but...

we can't find for love nor money what the Megabytes on the card is.

I think I have found that it is an INTEL MOBILE GL40 graphics card.

I have found these links

http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=35507

http://www.intel.com/products/Notebook/Chi...aldocuments.htm

but they make no sense to me... could any one please tell me about this graphics card...

Cheers

At a quick glance, it may be that the graphics card is part of the mainboard and is sharing the system memory. This was pretty slow in "the old days" when graphics cards were NOT built onto the mainboard but DID share memory with it.

Now it's slightly less slow? It's not a great or substantive answer in terms of what games will run, unfortunately, but it should at least give you a sense of what the memory size can be.

ok thats great, from what i have found out it shares its memory with the CPU

the computer has 3mb of ram

where would you roughly put it as in 32mb, 64mb, 128mb etc

I think it's some kind of a standardized Intel's GPU for integration with all kinds of laptop MOBOs. Don't think it's capable of some fast processing, and memory is probably shared with the system. It's probably enough for modern laptops, to run operating system and all what it brings (I see that it has Vista and DX10 supported..)

so running Fifa manger 10 that requires a 64mb graphics card would be out of question in your opinion?

thanks for the input Ivan smile.gif

- If the card has shared memory, try to get into the BIOS of the system.
- When there, check how much shared memory graphics chip has for itself. If less then 64MB, try to make it 64MB.
- Then try to start FIFA setup/install file and see how the installation goes.
- If it goes well, all you have to do is start the game and see if it runs.
