I tried booting my pc up yesterday and rather than taking 7 secs to boot it took over 10 mins, and all was not right.

After a lot of tinkering and troubleshooting, running virus scans etc, I discovered one of my harddrives has failed (note I only built this pc in January so all components are pretty new) this drive is mainly used for my plugins and samples and midi loops, but it's also where I download stuff to and test things out before deciding if I want to load it as a permanent thing on my SSD O/S drive.

So luckily most stuff is easily replaceable though I'm sure I'll forget some things I had on there.

No I haven't backed up my system, though the plugins (minus the freebies) have their installables on a seperate drive.

I'll be getting a replacement drive and another drive to back up my entire system to.

Lesson learnt

Seems like you learnt the hard way ohmy.gif Sorry to hear that. I try to do regular backups myself, but I get lazy and sometimes there's 3 or 4 weeks between each backup. If you're on Windows, there's a good free syncing program by Microsoft called SyncToy. I use it, it's never given me problems.

I use an external hard drive which backs everything up every day automatically. The only problem would be in the unlikely event that both my Internal and external drives packed up on the same day.

I do everything inside my user folder; all my documents, photos, music (I'd cry if I lost that), videos etc. smile.gif
