Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Neoclassical Three-Level-Lesson, Beginner by Marcus Lavendell

Hi!
So I had a go at learning this neo classical lick today. I know it isn't perfect so I'd appreciate any feedback!
This is the first time I have tried to learn a solo and to be honest, I found it tough! I am going to try and learn one of these a week and hopefully it will get easier.
Thanks!
I used my Line 6 Pod XT Pro and a 70's reissue Stratocaster.

Lack of vibrato! You're too occupied with the tones so you ignored very important detail. Considering that the lead is in 6/8, which you played well, add vibrato and it will be fantastic take! smile.gif

Good take! It's a bit difficult to hear your guitar because you put it a bit low in the mix. As Sinisa said you should add vibrato to your playing to make this an excellent take.

I agree with the guys! Vibrato is an important element which should not be overlooked!

Hey, first time in the REC - welcome ! cool.gif

Ok, as the guys mentioned, vibrato would lift this up even higher as it's an important part of this lesson (and neo classical type playing as a whole) however everything else you did really well so it's an 8 from me.

You've chosen a good instructor to look at because he's got some vibrato lessons as well. I've got a vibrato series that you may want to check out too at some point.

If you need any help working on this area just get in touch anytime, I'm happy to help smile.gif

Look forward to some more REC takes !

Excellent work on this one, but just need that vibrato moment like the guys said. Also, working a bit more on the tone would be good too, it's not very defined.

nothing much to add here, but agree, raise the guitar volume, add some vibrato, maybe some WIDE vibrato for this style, and you will be rocking! i will give you a 7, so you have to try again, because i know you can make it rock.
