I took my €4.5K Bourgeois Slope D to a local luthier who I hadn't been to before on Wednesday.
His workshop was full of part made guitars, violins etc, lots of wood and dust. He also runs a little school for would be luthiers so there were a few students around. I left my guitar with him with just a post it note on it with my details and what was wrong (high action due to a slight bellying near the bridge) He just put it on his desk, didn't want the case as the guitar would get forgotten about if it wasn't in sight, and didn't seem to show much interest at all. I left a little worried, but I'd heard he was good and better than the other repair guy who would keep guitars for weeks and weeks without looking at them. It's been a tense few days, but I got a call that it was done yesterday and went there, to find him playing it, for some tourists that had popped in. He was much more talkative this time and we discussed Bourgeois guitars and other makes. The guitar just needed a truss rod adjustment and he took a little height off the saddle, polished the frets and did some work to the fret ends as he thought they were a little sharp. He only charged me €20, so as I thought I might be in for a neck reset and at least a week without the guitar I gave him €50. Definitely worth it to find someone I can trust with my guitars close to home. -------------------- My SoundCloud

You are lucky to have a good Luthier Local
For this great guitar worth to spend a few Euros! I wish there would be a great Luthier closed to my place . |
