Hey all, just wanted to ask for your advice:
A few weeks ago I bought a set of D'addardio 11's. I was using 10's before that, so it was a slight change i had to get used to, but that was fine after a couple of days.
However, only about a week ago, the high E came out of the locking tuners, when I was tuning back up from I think Drop C to standard.. I didn't actually break, but just come out of the locking tuners, but I had left virtually no 'extra' length of string out of the tuning peg, I had snipped it all off, so it was pretty much impossible to get it back into the tuning peg.
So, since I had only had these strings a couple weeks, I just bought another single E string, 11 gauge just like before. Well it's been on for about another week or so now, but just now, I had tuned down to Drop C and was just jamming around but with a bend on the 12th Fret the E string came out again, except this time, it snapped at the locking tuners, so the extra length of string I had left at the end of the tuning peg was still there, but the rest of the string was completely separate, and had come out of the tuning peg.
I'm just wondering, any advice you can give on how to keep these strings from breaking..? I mean it's not like they're 8's or anything, they're 11's..
I can guess that chances are it's from tuning between Standard and Drop C, but I don't really see a way to avoid this..
