Pentatonic Substitution Lesson, Muris Varajic Lesson |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hey Guys,
After nearly 1.5 years, I went back to pentatonic scale. I hated this scale because it sounded just too monotonous for me so I was diving into other scales. And after doing this lesson, I realized I have been doing so much 3 nps that 2nps seems so hard even at lower tempo.. Anyway, here is a try and I hear noises on fast section plus the bend at the last seems a bit off which obviously tells me I need to practice more. Anyway, hoping to hear your feedback. Original Lesson and my take: Thanks for checking! Cheers!!! Chandra This post has been edited by skennington: Sep 27 2010, 05:00 PM |

I think you recognised your 'mistakes' correctly.
About fast parts: It is a good recipe for playing fast lines (probably you've heard it before). Namely: start to practice it on slower tempos, and make sure that you have played all the notes clean. Only after you played it several times perfectly on slower tempos, set the metronome 2-4 bpm faster (that will be way enough) and do the method again, and again until you reach the wanted tempo. About phrasing: I think the guitar sounds good in your hands. I suggest you to play this piece (and every piece) with more intensity, to make the song more alive. All in all you did a great job (except the fast parts). You play good, only more focused practicing is needed. Ps.: About pentatonic scales. A pentatonic scale always sounds how YOU make them sound like. Just listen to some blues players like Stevie Ray Vaughan. I hope it helped, have fun practicing Cheers Hey Guys,

Generally it's ok, but you should pay more attention to fast parts, they should be more "in tempo"...

Mate said it all. I'd however pay more attention to the vibratos as well, however your pharsing is very nice. Great take, man!
