I finally have the money to invest in a good overdrive pedal.
I first bought a Boss SD1, dint like it as much, then got it a YJM308 DoD preamp, which i did like but is a bit , and just a tiny bit on the trebly side.

Now that i have the money i wanna get a very good overdrive pedal.
And my two choices are... Ibanez Tubescreamer(Ts9dx Keeley) and Fulltone OCD

Pls help me decide which one, if any of you have any of these pedals, your input will be very much appreciated

I have the OCD and love it, it's the best pedal I own. Warm fat tones, extremely versatile from very transparent overdrive to a more british sounding overdrive, true bypass, plus if have an 18v power supply it doubles the goodness of the pedal, unfortunately I don't have an 18v right now.
I'm sure the Keeley is very nice too.
Other options are the BB preamp, MI Audio Cruch Box, there's a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head that are in the same league as the OCD. The OCD works great as a boost too because it is so transparent, just turn the distortion all the way down and up the volume, doesn't color your tone at all

I had the Keeley TS9, nice pedal but very subtle! You might not notice much more difference from the SD1

I don't know that Keeley version, but I have 3 Tube Screamers myself and love them. Another very good pedal is Marshall's Govner II, you might want to check this one out before you spend your money. And an advice about testing a distortion pedal, if possible test it with your amp, or at least the same kind of amplifier, some distortion pedals work very well with one amp, but not at all with a different one.

BB Preamp.

I don't know about Fulltone one, but Tubescreamer is a good boost pedal that you should be happy with. Mods only increase the missing low end that pedal is missing, so I think with a good tube setup it can turn out to be a great pedal.

You might take a look at this article, it covers a variety of DS/OD pedals and how they work in real life. It's coming from a position of emulating Gilmour, but has a nice discussion of the relatve merits of various units.
