In legat context (at least in Sweden) it's when you start paying tax and that's when passing 50,000 SEK (about 8300 USD or 5300 Euro) which is the limit where a hobby becomes work.

Wow! That's an interesting fact indeed!

I'd say you are a professional musician when someone asks you "What's your job?" and you can answer "I'm a musician". But there's also another definition, regarding your dedication and loyalty to what you are doing, that is, your proffessional attitude towards your playing, even if it's just practicing non stop or playing live very well and often even without being payed.

Well, professional is actually two words. One is a substantive, he is a professional, the other is an adjective; that was very professional of you.

the adjective professional is a big word for good, terrific etc. Exactly like unprofessional is: not good, unpleasant, nothing you would pay to experience etc.

The substantive is the paid etc... at least imho.

You can behave professional, for example, if you watch tour de france, CSC have a very professional attitude.

If you are professional you earn money from music on a regular basis, and makes music several times a week.

My opinion. smile.gif
