Sweep Picking, Lesson By Gabriel Leopardi |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Sweep Picking by Gabriel Leopardi
Hello, here is the recording of my work, and also my first sweep picking. The tempo is at 80bpm, like the exercises played by Gab and not like the backing track which is at 100bpm (I now know who should play exactly like the instructor :) ) |

Hi Olivier!
Your first sweep picking take sounds very promising. Don't worry, you played at the same BPM as Gab, so your take it can qualify for grading. Let's point out some of the details that need more work. 0:27 - 0:39 ; 0:51 - 1:02 and 1:15 - 1:26 - Playing the sweeps at a slow tempo is much harder than playing at a fast tempo. Be very careful because in these spots you have moments when you don't keep a good sweep motion. It looks and sounds more like a typical pick "jumping". No matter of the tempo, all you need to do is to push the pick until it falls on the next string. In this way, you will have a perfect sweep motion. You have some moments where you have some timing issues (0:45 - 0:47) 1:05 - 1:14 - Try to add a little more force to your pinky finger when you make the pull off. All the notes should sound very equal (volume wise). 1:33 - 1:39 - This part needs additional work to make it sound clear and clean. If you want a new sweep lesson, I recommend to you this one: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn...weep-Picking-2/ I'm sure you can fix all the issues that I pointed out. You get a 7 from me. Keep up your awesome work! This post has been edited by Monica Gheorghevici: Jan 4 2023, 04:23 AM |
