+1 with 24 frets being a good thing If you were more into speed type stuff, I would defintitley tell you to go with Ibanez, but the stuff you play would be more suited to a Les Paul. Oh, and Ibanez ARE NOT girly man guitars http://ibanez.com/eg/guitar.aspx?m=XPT700 You can play with speed on almost any guitar. Just think Zakk Wylde, Slash, even Yngwie has used Les Pauls before. So thats not really a big concern. |

I'd go with an Ibanez, there necks are fast, there sound is versatile, they feel great, there well balanced for live gigs, And they look amazing

The choice of a guitar is something very personal in my opinion, you should not listen to whatever we tell you here, you should play your possible candidates as much as you possibly can and then pick what you liked better. But if you want an advice... GIBSON!!!!!!!!! For me nothing comes close to a Les Paul

Someone already brought it up and I didn't really think about, but you can get an extremely good RG Prestige for the price that you could get a low end Les Paul. If you are on a budget I'd go with Ibanez. The only problem you might have with a Prestige is the floating trem, which is an incredible pain the first couple of times you change strings.
Like here's a lower end gipson for $900. Here's an Prestige that is the same price, and I'd almost bet my life on, that it sounded better, played better, and lookes so much sexier This post has been edited by SLASH91: Mar 7 2008, 07:21 PM -------------------- "Remember to live, eat, sleep and breathe music for the mind, play from your heart and never be swayed by the current trends"- Rusty Cooley My gear: Marshall Valvstate Digitech Distortion Factory Jackson RR24 (Randy Rhoads) Ibanez RG2550e A ripoff brand acoustic guitar and a Yamaha Classical guitar :) |

If you are on a budget I'd go with Ibanez. The only problem you might have with a Prestige is the floating trem, which is an incredible pain the first couple of times you change strings. I was looking for something high end (as you should if you are moving from epiphone custom) and tested lots of stuff. Price is the main reason I decided for Ibanez, though the more versatile pickup setup (5 hot positions) is a real addon, and also I felt it more playable than anything I played ever before. By moving from epi Les Paul custom to RG prestige I added 20% speed instantaneously . I simply did not have 50% more money to invest in a Les Paul custom, though I still think that tis the ultimate sound to be reached (added Marshall), and that is the guitar I want next. -------------------- my "Thank you GMC!" video
