Gabriel suggested a topic for a discussion of compact live rigs. Here are my comments.
I can recommend an AMT SS-20. It's a pedal with a tube preamp. It has great sound, 2 channels, and passable cabinet emulation. Like Mertay, I have a friend who likes his Tech 21 Flyrig. It sounds nice and has a couple of effects and it's under $300 US. But if you're looking for a small live rig for around $600, it's hard to beat the Atomic Amplifire. Sounds great, a good array of amps to choose from, has a selection of effects, and IR loading. It doesn't really have any competition for a compact live rig in that price range right now. If you can go over $1000 US, the Fractal AX8 and Line 6 Helix are the kings right now for compact live rigs in that price range. -------------------- Cyber-industrial music and video animations:

Oh, and one other option I'll mention: the Johnson J-Station. It's been out of production for years, but you can find them for under $50 on ebay. The J-Station was years ahead of its time and still compares favorably to a lot of gear today. Great amp sounds. Great cabinet sounds. Great effects.
And, of course the ultimate flyrig is your phone . There are a lot amp simulators that you can run on your phone. I like Jam Up Pro. I use it with a Blueboard bluetooth midi pedal board. It's not going to sound as good as some of the options I mentioned above, but if compact size is your top requirement, you can't beat it . -------------------- Cyber-industrial music and video animations:

Any tube amp for backline is fine for me. I'll deal with solid-state if I have too.
Depending on the gig, when I fly, I bring one of these ... Two days worth of clothes + small board, cables, etc. This 'mini' board and case fits in a carry-on bag (also with room for clothes. Jams and rehearsals around town. Fits in a shoulder or messenger bag. This post has been edited by klasaine: Apr 22 2016, 02:18 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

The Johnson J-Station is what became the first Series of DIGITECH multi fx called the GENESIS. The first was the Genesis 1
http://digitech.com/en/products/genesis1 I actually owned an original Genesis 3 http://digitech.com/en/products/genesis3 for a while (about $50 on ebay). It was the predecessor to the GNX Line which led to the GNX1,2,3&4. Here is the Genesis 3, in action Oh, and one other option I'll mention: the Johnson J-Station.
