Hi Ivan smile.gif

I use exclusively Stan Hinesley's handmade custom pickups on my main guitars.

On my MK custom I have Rogue in bridge,LaGrange in middle and customized Desperado in neck.
On MM Axis there are customized Scorpion(bridge) and Zen(neck).

Stan is really amazing,we tried many combination until I got what I wanted.
And his pickups really are not expensive,
it's all handwounded and you can get optional customizing.

Here's his website,check it out. smile.gif

Hey Muris,

I just wanted to know how much of a difference do pickups make overall to your sound.
I mean the wood counts, so does the amplifier, and i remember 3-4 years ago thinking that if i could get the pick up that (insert guitarist) uses ill be able to sound like him. But i was quite wrong there because everything in total ( effects, guitar, amplifier, the GUITARIST himself etc) counts.
I Mean listening to gary moore, paul gilbert, eddie vanhalen, SRV etc their sound is so unique yet so rich and natural.
And your sound on the modern blues solo thing ( the one with gary moore licks ) was really really interesting. After nailing the vibratos im still not able to get such a rich sound. Just the playing is right and not the ambiance. But then again i dont have my delay pedal hooked up (just reverb from my amp), or ill loose the chorus (just one adapter tongue.gif) but i dont think that alone would make a huge difference or will it?.

I would really like to get your thoughts on this matter.

Thanks in Advance,

Take Care Bro smile.gif

Not sure what do you mean by rich sound but anyhow, let's talk about pickups. smile.gif

As you know, pickup is there to collects string "ringing" and sends it to amp, preamp or whatever.
If it has high output you'll send higher sound/signal to amp and opposite.
So it's actually a transmitter BUT it has some dealing with the tone of course.
Each pickups has its own character and it's important to match it right with your guitar.
Moody and bassy PUS wouldn't go nicely with mahagony body etc...
When you define character you wont, then you're on to output.
It's actually mater of thaste, just like everything in art such is music. smile.gif
Some players need more output for legato runs,
while vintage players like midrange output, feels more natural to them.

And of course, less gear you have, pickups is more important.
More gear you have, pickup is less important but still transmits the sound so have that in mind. smile.gif
