Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Offa, this is a good take of a very cool sounding lesson. You've got the rhythm happening just right. The tone is perfect too.

The opening bend at 0:26 sounds a bit awkward. It sounds like you're yanking the string out of key. This sounds like a lack of control during bending. Javier only bends the note very slightly. Possibly just less than a semitone. Enough just to give the note a bluesy edge and nothing more. So try to make it a little more subtle.

Apart from that, you have this lesson under control - well done!

Hi Offa!

I like the energy of your rhythm playing. Your tone is as good as the original lesson. The solo sections needs some more work, starting from the mix, I think that it's a bit low in the mix, or maybe your tone lacks some mids presence in this part.

Your playing during the solo is not bad but from what I can hear, I think that you need to practice more to have more control of bending and vibrato, and also try to clean the fast trill. I also note that your timing is not totally precise, just compare the first two phrases and you'll see what I mean. The original solo has a "funky" feel that makes it sound groovier. Work on it!

Hey there!

First of all excellent choice of lesson. Hardest part of it is the amount of little details that make all the blues-rock flavor. Your performance is quite descent and your tone well matched for the lesson. I would go even further with gain cut due to the noise and even better note separation while strumming chords but it's more of my personall, subjective suggestion.

As for the take itselft I have a feeling there are little timming problems - mainly at the licks, finishing the phrases, like 0:27 and 0:30 -0 final notes are a bit too late. Also I would like to support Ben's tip on bent notes - Javier does just a tiny bends. It works like an ornament rather then typical bend.

Aside from above it's a piece of really good job.
