When I'm feeling unmotivated I'll play for just 30mins then look at some great guitar work on youtube.
Seeing true masters at work usually inspires me to go back and do some boring scales (or whatever) because I'll have a clearer sense of the end product.

I know exactly what you mean, I'm like that too..
But I've been getting better lately though, practicing more than before smile.gif

If you practice a lot and see how much you're progressing,
you will want to practice more to progress further smile.gif

But I have up and down periods with my practicing, but I always enjoy playing the guitar.
And that is the most important thing if you ask me smile.gif

Well I could threaten to come by your house and cut off your toes.....but the airfare is just way to expensive smile.gif

Motivation is a tricky thing I find. It's so easy to get complacent and bored. I find the forum helps me a lot as I see how much others are improving and it kind of lights a fire under my butt. I usually print the tabs and then just use the videos as a reference as I find it uncomfortable at times playing in front of the computer. This may work for you as well.

i find that being married with kids helps with motivation, you will do anything for that little bit of "me" time. and having the axe cranked up to 11 usually gets the message across. tongue.gif tongue.gif

I'll do better than that.
For every day you haven't practised I'll record something of my horrible playing and send it to you.
If that doesn't motivate you it will at least scare you of becoming that bad.

I used to be like that. No motivation to practice. What changed me?

When my friends were starting to get better. Friends who have been playing for a much shorter period of time than me. That got me. So my advice? Realize that soon, people that couldn't strum a chord might be playing better than you(and it's probably true).

Try to watch some good guitar players that you like and then take a guitar and practice one day for 15 minutes. That's pretty small, but do a focused exercise with a metronome. Than the next day do the same and after a while you'll be doing some long sessions without even noticing it. THat's guitar - addictive wink.gif smile.gif
