Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Modern Blues Bebop by Diego Budicin

Hello guys, Just wanted to show you what im working on so you can (hopefully) see the progress. I really like this lesson, however i think this sweeping/legato lick is above my level of playing but i didnt want to give up this lesson because of that. Grtz Tim

Very cool to see you working on this lesson, I find the combination of groove and shred in this one super tasty!

You have come a long way especially in terms of groove. With the licks you master here, we can hear there is a potential groove meister behind the steering wheel.

There are many sections which you are not comfortable enough with yet, and here you you kinda loose timing and hand sync.

The main takeaway here would be to keep on working on this, and do everything within your power to avoid rushing things. That is how you will nail all the details as well as the groove - in the shortest amount of time. Yes, the more you can refrain from speeding here - the faster you will master this up to tempo!

I can't wait to get another update from you and I am looking forward to grading you when you are ready!

Keep up the killer work mate 👌👊

Hi Tim! You chose one of my favorite lessons from GMC. smile.gif

With a little more work, I'm pretty sure you will come back with an awesome take. You are a really great player!

I will not mention about the fast parts because you already know about them but I will point out some details if you want to take a look at them closer.

- Take care of those "X" marked notes on the tab and make them sound muted.

- Those chords should sound very clear. Don't forget that in this rhythm section, you have some notes which should be played with PM.
Be careful how you make the muting. At this moment you have too many unwanted noises on the whole take.

- 0:22 - on this spot, look at the tab and also at Diego slower video (no.2). That notes should ring together. You have in tab an L (tied note), this means to hold the preceding note.

- 0:29 - review the beginning on the sequence of two notes voicing. You don't play the right note (slow video no.3).

- 0:34 - 0:36 - these bends are out of pitch.

- Be careful at accents and those notes which are played with staccato.

Today, I will also not grade your take. Keep practicing and I can't wait a new recording from you. smile.gif

Hi Tim!

I have already given you some feedback regarding this lesson in the mentoring thread. I think this lesson is a great choice for you because there are many elements to polish here. Starting with rhythm and groove, both when playing strumming chords and when playing lead guitar, and going through the more advanced aspects of picking & legato.

When playing the faster parts with alternate picking, I notice that you could economize your right hand movements, and I personally would recommend to avoid moving too much your thumb and index fingers.

The key here is repetition, so please continue practicing every day and if possible isolate the tricky sections to get more familiar with them. You could also create some exercises based on variations of these tricky sections.

Keep up the hard work!
