Epiphones makes some great quality instruments. I've tried quite a few of them, and i havent found anyone i didnt like. The pickups arent usually the best though, atleast not in my experience. But if your still in the learning process then they will work perfectly for now

Great guitar, I think you should definitely buy it. As a matter of fact, I think that anyone who can't afford USA Gibson LP should have this guitar in their collection

She's so beautiful...alone the look is already worth the money... Have you also considered this one....?
http://www.thomann.de/gb/epiphone_les_paul_black_beauty.htm One more humbucker for 20 Euro more...not that bad....looks a bit overloaded on the other hand... This post has been edited by Nighthawk: Jun 23 2008, 08:52 PM |

I think that's a wonderful guitar in its price range, I tried one in my local shop and sounds good too. Beautiful, affordable, well built... a good choice!

Great for its price.
But if you really like that kind of guitar I recommend you save up and get http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=6727 the Gibson Les Paul Studio. I think it will save you money in the long run as you won't want to upgrade for a long time. Just my opinion. Oh, and definately shop around for the price. |

Hello, I´m thinking about buying a new guitar, but I am not sure if it is a good one. So what do you think about it? http://www.thomann.de/gb/epiphone_les_paul_custom_black.htm I´m looking forward to your answers Well, I replaced my Epiphone Les Paul Ultra with a Gibson Les Paul Standard a couple of days ago. If I compare them the Epiphone is a really good guitar, considering it costs about a third of the Gibson. (the Epi Les Paul Ultra is probably one of the best non-Gibson Les Pauls there is) Finish is perfect, sound is great. The difference between the Epiphone and the Gibson isn't as big as the price difference. Get it and when you can afford it you can always buy a Gibson. I got a very decent trade-in price fot the Epi as well -------------------- Guitars: Fender US standard Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard
Amps: Fender Princeton Recording Amp, H&K Statesman Dual EL84 Effects: Pod XT, Keeley TS808, Keeley DS-1, RAT |

Whatever floats your boat. Whaddaya mean? He's asking for specific advice here! I've heard that the souped up version of the Epiphone LP is on par with the cheapest Gibson LP. So get the Epiphone! Like this one: Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II They sell for $600-700 - seen here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?...e+ultra&st= You get real Gibson pickups here - so no need to upgrade them. -------------------- QUOTE ("Steve Vai") Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman. |
