Here are two takes i din in the week:

You did great! Timing is so much better!
The thing is when you are not focusing on the notes you are fully concentrated on timing and that's how you can get a fast results and will get creative with your rhythms!
I have a few suggestions that will help you even more!
1) Your tone is getting lost in the backing track the reason is that you don't have enough middle frequencies so by adding just a little bit it will improve a lot! If you will also turn down your gain it will help improve your dynamic
2) If you will leave more space between phrases it will help you to build up the solo much smoother!
You did a very good job and I liked your take a lot!
For the next assignment I would like to add a few licks into your library
Here is the tab

Cool Alex wink.gif I will check them out and try to use them in sunny and other cool tracks..
after that maybe we could check out the changes in sunny and I could learnt to play it.

We talked about it previous assignments but I didnt get it fully, but we were supposed to start with pentatonics over certain chords right?

I would like you to start with learning a couple of licks and in the meantime I will prepare another assignment!
This licks will help you get new ideas and will lead to your own phrases! I think it is very important if we will concentrate on those first! Let's do it for a week and after that we will move to something new! smile.gif
Let me know what you think! smile.gif

Those licks will help you learn how to play over II - V - I chord progressions and the whole playing over the changes thing is pretty much based on it! So we will take it one step at a time! smile.gif And than I will show you how to use it over different chords!

Alex, a quick question, how do you apporach pentatonics?
I think of them more as chords, bar chords, moveable more than scales..

like this

Start from root on 6th string

start from one note above root (7th note, A, root B )

start from root on 5th string..

and so on smile.gif

I am not really sure what you meant but from what I understood you are looking at pentatonics as chords and it is a good way to look at them as well I am looking at positions instead of chords I think it's easier to combine them together but your way is the correct one as well!

It's very easy! You just have to take parts from one pentatonic and combine it with another one!
Let's work on creating licks! Try to take a few notes from E minor pentatonic and combine it with B minor try to come up with a few melodic licks
E minor

B minor

If you can record a few licks and post them here so I can help you out more! smile.gif Would be great!
P.S, I will be doing a video chat in a couple of weeks about combining pentatonic scales I will let you know when and I will be explaining everything in details!

I would like to keep working with the fusion stuff we have been working on.
But I could use some recording assistance in a few song ideas, but I will probably only do a post or week a so.

I have an ideas how about we will combine two things together! Let's make a track in a style of fusion that you can jam over!
What type of software do you use? And do you have any software to program drums? Let me know!
