I just can't seem to get it, I think I can sing alright ( ) it's just doing them both at the same time I get mixed up. Anyone know how I can get the hang of it? Hope you guys get what I mean.. You probably have issue with rhythm/groove. Try to play more rhythm stuff from now,not mainly lead. And sing as much as possible while counting the bar with your hand. With fingerpicking blues you got to keep the rythm with your thumb all the time and play solo with your other fingers. I think this is pretty much the same thing you need to learn when singing. Start out EXTREMELY slow and easy. Btw, maybe you could try to sing and play songs like Knocking on Heavens Door and Bad Moon Rising? They arent too difficult. Like I can sing and play Crazy Train and Stairway to Heaven (which would normally be considered really hard) just because I know the riffs so well that my fingers do them automatically while my brain can concentrate and singing and the lyrics. Oct 3 2007, 06:56 AM	The Dark Canuck Posts: 2.729 Joined: 22-March 07 From: The Great White North	I have this same problem Cherio....but I'm getting better My main problem occures when the vocal rhythm and guitar rhythm are not the same...hope that makes since. Like if the vocals start ahead or slightly behind the guitar parts or if strum pattern is tricky it fools me up say like in "Laid" by James or in "wonderwall" by Oasis. I'm no expert but I started off with "easy" songs like "Y'er so Bad" by Tom Petty, " Ring of Fire" or "walk the Line" by Johnny Cash. the chord progressions of these songs are really simple and so is the strummimg. I could concentrate more on the singing and found it pretty easy as the vocals followed the chord pattern. As I got better I picked harder songs. I can now sing and play Laid and Wonderwall which I found really hard at first...although some may not. I still have problems but I am finding it easier the more I practice.
