Hey dude, I used to hold my pick in a very screwed up manner. But I recently changed how I hold it , and I now hold it like your third picture.
I also feel alot more relaxed holding it in this manner. Heres a discussion on how to hold a pick: GMC Oh yeah, Nice avatar btw This post has been edited by SLASH91: Oct 3 2007, 11:56 AM -------------------- "Remember to live, eat, sleep and breathe music for the mind, play from your heart and never be swayed by the current trends"- Rusty Cooley My gear: Marshall Valvstate Digitech Distortion Factory Jackson RR24 (Randy Rhoads) Ibanez RG2550e A ripoff brand acoustic guitar and a Yamaha Classical guitar :) |

I have been led to believe there is no correct way to hold the pick but only the way that is best for you..... im probably wrong though but whatever

I like your shoes
Well, IMO there is no correct way, just take your pick and feel confortable with it -------------------- |

I'm close to the thried pic, i keep it more between the joint and the nail and the index finger curled up a bit more.
hungus put it very well - "there is no correct way to hold the pick but only the way that is best for you" The only problem is to find out what way that is. I used to hold it like in pic 1 before and I sucked at playing. After changing to pic 3 speed and accuracy increased enourmously! I was close to put the guitar in the shelf after so many years of playing and not getting better. Changed the way to pic 3 and discovered a new world. Playing the guitar has never been as fun as now. Picture number 3 is something like i do keep the pick. Btw. guys if you think the way of holding pick is not important - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT! You must find a way for holding the pick to make your playing comfortable and natural.
