I agree with Ramiro. You need a preamp if your soundcard doesn't have one. Sircraigery suggested Samson. I have Samson C05 and it works great. It's also not expensive. Since my mic is a condenser one and my soundcard doesn't have phantom power I had to buy a preamp TUBE MP. Very small and cheap unit (30-40$). There you can boost your signal as much as you like.

I had one Samson USB mic and it worked ok but I wasn't able to get direct monitoring. If I listen on speakers what I am recording I have half a second delay. If you don't need that feature then it works OK.

im using a toneport gx..but im guessing thst doesnt have a vocal pre amp does it..at least that model GX doesn't have a preamp, so it's understandable that you have a weak signal. Get a Behringer MIC100, or ART Tube MP Studio, they are cheap, but do the job. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

everyone else has already covered it, but yes a pre amp is what you need. There are many many pre amps to choose from. Something as simple as this one will do the job http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/produ...eamp?sku=180581
I've been using a Studio Projects VTB-1 pre-amp for many years now. I bought it back when I couldn't afford much else, and it turned out to be a great choice. I think it was a bit cheaper back when I bought it (it runs for about $139 now). Its got one microphone input, and it also has a direct input for instruments, such as the guitar. I use to get some extra gain from my guitar signal before sending it to my soundcard. The mic pre-amp sounds pretty good for the price, actually very good for the price. There's many to choose from though, just make sure to read some reviews on whichever one you decide, and if you can, try them out first. -------------------- ESP LTD Viper-100FM Bridge - GFS Dream 90 Neck - DiMarzio DP193 Air Norton |
