It is true my music taste are wide and varied, and I am a very proud U2 fan
The Edge is the man who made me want to pick a guitar up, and in my eyes I think hes pretty awsome! For me the Edges playing is all about setting the right mood for the song, and he is full of originality in his playing Do we have any U2 fans at GMC? David O where are you? Anyway i thought i would share some vids, maybe this will be the first time some younger GMC'ers hear U2 Bullet the Blue Sky Live@ Sydney - Love the blusey solo here at around 1:56 - very cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uTwspjawLI Where the Streets have no Name live @ Slane Castle - This is beautiful, I love Bonos intro and the Edge sets the mood well with his classic delay driven riff's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDkBzkA9L4s Elevation live @ Slane Castle - This is basically a rock song, I think he uses his "big muff" here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lCXB_68VfQ Until the End of the World live @ slane castle - a personal fave, and a classic Rock song!(ill take that les paul goldtop thankyou ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejJdfkFjKCA Love is Blindess live @ Sydney - another personal fave, the solo (@ 3:19) is simple yet beautiful and played with soul Bono gets a girl up from the audience and dances with her as usual! haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8oy0nR1Nhw I hope you enjoy these as much as i have This post has been edited by mattacuk: Sep 17 2007, 05:31 PM -------------------- mysql> SELECT * FROM master_name WHERE ((firstname = 'Paul') AND (lastname = 'Gilbert'));

I can't tell that I'm a real fan of U2 but I do love it,and Edge's playing of course.
He's played many great chops and riffs without being too hard or complex. The proof that amazing technique isn't the must. Tho I like fine technique... -------------------- Youtube

I was never that much of a fan of U2, not my type of thing, but they are quality band no doubt. Edge's playing is unique and this is what counts in the end, what you do with what you got and will it be good for other people to enjoy in your work.

I really like The Edge's clean tone. Is so fresh and clean, and, at the same time, full of power. He can create a lot of atmospheres with only that tone. Amazing
