Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Ostinato Etude by Piotr Kaczor

This is my REC from the Ostinato etude. It took me much more than expected. I know it is far from perfect, but I am a bit tired of this song and I want go for another. I have put on my best suit for the occasion, just in case it scores more.

Hi Carlos!

Awesome take of this extremely demanding lesson! Your playing is amazing!
Reading what you said, it seems that you know very well the difference between very good and perfect. I like this thing very much.

I would have loved to hear the sweep part (0:54) played with a little more accuracy.
Besides this, I don't hear anything serious. Yes, you have some tiny imperfections like a few blurry notes (0:23 - 0:25 - the last note from each switching position) and 1-2 moments where your hand wasn't in perfect sync.

Congrats on your work. Today you have a 9 from me.

Keep on rocking!!! smile.gif

Very nice - and your best suit sure gets my top score 🤩

Once again you display great technique!

Yet I think it's the picking that's holding you back here. Whenever there is fast picking I feel you are totally focused on not messing up and you don't quite display the same flow and musicality.

I notice in the beginning when there is no fast picking you still have a pretty tensed right hand posture. I am pretty sure your picking would benefit from you relaxing your hand so you can start including more thumb joint movement.

This is usually a "no no" for beginners because it can lead to inconsistencies. However that won't be an issue for you, instead you are now in need of introducing more flexibility into your picking movement. And the the thumb joint movement does exactly that.

Keep up the killer work you get an 8 from me!
