Good question Sigma.
Most of the time we are dealing with modulations when keys/tonalities have one or few same shared chords. That is not the case here however, there is no shared chord but only one shared note, but even that note doesn't have same name in both keys,in E Lydian it's A# while in Bb Lydian it's called Bb note. So what I did was the showcase of two most distanced tonalities and connection between them. Most distanced because #4(or b5) is located right in the middle of an octave so there is no interval with higher distance from root note. It might confuse you if you think of it as a most common modulation because it ain't, just as you said there is no shared chord etc. That's why we have many different types of modulation, smooth ones when we have few shared chords and it goes really easy to hear and understand the modulation. On the other hand some modulation are more like straight jumps into new key without any connection. But we did have one connection, the #4 note. -------------------- Youtube
