Lately (the past 2 days) when I've been playing I've had a strange feeling in my hand that its hollow and weak, hindering my playing abilities. Its pretty uncomfortable to play (not painfully but it feels awkward) and I was wondering if anyones had this sensation before.

not suffered from anything like this myself, theres been a few injuries posted on the forums just lately, I`d take it very easy for a bit and if no improvement I`d seek some profesional medical advice, just to be safe wink.gif

Yes, I get that feeling too, but only after playing for hours without resting. I stop for the day and it goes away though...

You must reast about 15minutes every hour, when you are doing some heavey excersises. Just realx a little so you dont damages your muscels in the years to come.

I would also recommend you rest your hand, and if you aren't already, I highly recommend warming up before long practicing hours. I also find that massaging & stretching my fretting hand helps a ton, I suggest you try it. Good luck man!

I've never experienced a 'hollow' feeling in my hand but as the other guys have said, make sure you're warming up properly, and taking regular breaks when doing strenuous practice. Try to not focus on one area of your playing for hours on end (eg legato) because it will put extended strain on one part (ie left hand, if legato), mix it up and do lots of different things. That will not only prevent injury but also make you more versatile as a musician!

If the problem persists, start using a wrist support while practicing. If that fails take a break from playing and see a doctor!
Hopefully it won't come to that though!
David
