Hi there,
I just joined up a few days ago and Ben forced me to post here.
I'm 22, from Germany and study Physics ph34r.gif
I started playing classic guitar in 1999 or sth (with many dead phases in between due to lack of motivation) and picked up the electric guitar a few years ago (self taught). With that being really fun, I feel that I don't make much progress lately and keep focusing on the same things over and over without really getting through (mainly cause I tend to pick stuff to play that at some point hits some freaking 180+ bpm noodling)

So mainly went here for that really wide amount of material to play from and also to build up speed and other techniques I neglected to concentrate on (sweeping, legato,...)
Maybe also inspiration to write some stuff again.

Recently my sister also got me into Acoustic stuff again (Laurance Juber) and I started playing some modern fingerstyle pieces that turned out to be really fun aswell (Andy McKee, Preston Reed, Antoine Dufour,...) I'm also considering getting some steel string by the end of this year.
(By scrolling through this site, some Ramiro Delforte lessons are definetely on my to do list aswell)

concerning my influences, I'm currently mainly into Progressive Rock/Metal, but am also a fan of Jazz Fusion and Post/Math Rock
(detailed view here http://www.last.fm/user/b-trian)
I most likely also enjoy solo guitar stuff like Petrucci (speaking of failing on high speed noodling in the beginning of this post, ha), Neil Zaza, Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, Kiko Loureiro and various ppl. on YT.
While I'm still struggling even playing their stuff, not speaking of pulling something similar out of my mind biggrin.gif

Currently I'm giving some of Piotr's lessons a try while discovering some basic technique lessons on the way.
Got the feeling, I'm in the land of progress again...
