You can do a lot of mastering up to red book standard in Audacity Skenny. Also take a look at this and this.

Mastering is both a science and an art though and really takes time, practice and experience imho. Personally I think you need to spend (a lot of) time experimenting and really listening and comparing. If you can use a spectral analysis tool to look at how your favourite songs were treated and why - then play with it to see what happens if you boost and attenuate particular frequencies smile.gif .

Thanks for the links Tony. smile.gif

Thanks for the link David, looks to be some cool software. smile.gif Off topic, but do you know of any free mastering programs that are free? I've ran across a few but were not very rookie friendly.. laugh.gif

On linux/jack you could use Jamin. But I wouldn't call it rookie friendly.

Awesome David! Thanks a lot biggrin.gif
This will sure be useful until I feel good enough at recording to grant myself the guitar rig or something.

I use an external sound card and had the same problem. I just rebooted my computer and re - connected the sound card smile.gif

Also, you have to register the product before it works in case you`ve forgot
