Basically.. I have decided to start finding some random backing tracks and record myself playing over them for the first time in one take. Mmm.. Basically, its a fun way to try and pick out melody lines on the spot and it will show some big flaws in my playing. As you will hear, I don't know all the chords. I just remember playing this song before, and picked out a few. Just for fun.. gonna keep adding them on this thread.

Try guessing what song it is and I also put in a signature riff to another song in this song at some point..

I'd go with Peter Frampton and 'Show me the way'.

Nice take on it - whether I'm right or not biggrin.gif .
Cheers,
Tony

Yeah that is it. Might not have sounded much like it though with me playing over it. :-/

Here is the 2nd one.

Guitar.. would be a Jimmie Vaughan Strat.. playin through a cheap Digitech multi effects pedal. The funny thing, is that whenever I record on my computer, I can't emulate my live sound, so I end up going with a distortion like the ones on the recordings.

When I play at gigs (mostly church music).. I have just a basic overdrive sound using a tube screamer. No delay or anything.. so I guess my point in saying that is that the tone I have on these recordings is not how I usually sound when I play live. Of course, I also don't play that kind of music. smile.gif

I need a good mic to record my amp, then I could get the sounds I want for some of the stuff.

It's hard to emulate a full on live sound at reasonable recording levels. That and a hall will have different acoustics and reverb...

Anyway - Shine on You crazy diamond - and nice impro on it. I'll stop doing these if this one is right rolleyes.gif

Cheers,
Tony
