hello everyone i have a gibson from the les poul series and i have been dying to set it up but i want to do it myself if anyone know how to do it or know a good website that will be great!! thanks alot ben n oooo almost forgot is it possible to install on it a whammy bar?? Check THIS A bigsby kind would be possible. Any others may give problems since the neck on a LP is tilted (the tail pice sits high) and the body valved. meaning the tail/bridge would have to sit high to keep a normal distance between strings and fingerboard. You'd had to do quite some woodwork is my guess. Especially of you plan on installing a bridge with a metal block held by springs. You'd need to rout quite a bit of wood out. But everything is possible. This post has been edited by MickeM: Oct 27 2007, 10:03 PM -------------------- My bands homepage

+1 with MickeM.
I have a FR on my custom made LP Junior type. The floyd on this floats above the body to minimise the routing and the glued in neck had to be set differently to cope. That would require lots of work. Other way however means routing out quite a bit of the LP particularly if you want to pull up and down on the bar. In either case I'd say it was a job for a luthier - even if you're good at woodworking = if you want to install a FR type. oooo almost forgot is it possible to install on it a whammy bar?? If you want it VERY SIMPLE you could try http://www.stetsbar.com No need to cut any wood or anything with that one. Though the tuning doesnt stay that fantastic, there are probably ways to make that better of course, I dunno. |
