I am really happy to have you on board
Let's start! Here is the track that we will be using http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/ii-v-i-jam It's a standard II-V-I progression in E minor So the chords are Emi7 - A7 -Dmaj7 To start I would like you to take three pentatonics in this shapes: B minor E minor F# minor And combine them together creating licks! Its a very important exercise if you want to develop your own style! I am not gonna provide with an example because I would like to hear what you will come up with on your own! Let me know if you need any help or have questions! -------------------- |

Thanks in advance, You did a very nice job! I can suggest to keep it less busy and do quality notes instead of quantity if you know what I mean! You played those three pentatonics because all of them are coming from the same key! D major! If you know the key you can play three pentatonics over it is: II - III - VI All the minor modes! Dorian, Phrygian, Aeolian that's why those pentatonics will work! -------------------- |

Cool! So I have a new track for you it's a rock shuffle style!
Standard Blues progression but a little heavier! http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/rockshuffle Also I have a new assignment for you that will help you to master pentatonic shapes! Make sure to practice it at a slow tempo using a metronome! Hello! So I have a new assignment ready! We will get into improvisation a little bit more!
Here is the track http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/slavenko I did my first solo based on A minor pentatonic and I would like you to create a response! Try to continue my idea and be as melodic as you can! Also after mixing your guitar please leave the rest of the track playing so I can continue When you will be making a response use the same shapes as I did! Let me know if you have any questions or need help! -------------------- |

Hello Alex, here's my take! I Hope i did something like good job!! if it's not good , i'm open for suggestions! http://soundcloud.com/slavenko/alex-take-1 You did a good job! But went too far It should have been only one round through 12 bars! For the first part try to be less busy the whole point of this exercise is that we will develop it together! And will shred towards the end Also You were rushing a little bit so try to play behind holding yourself back! I have plenty of exercises that can help you with your timing so if you need those let me know I liked your sound and your touch is very nice! I think a little bit of work and you will sound brilliant! -------------------- |

You kept it less busy and had a very nice idea! Now I would like you to combine a few things When you are playing over E7 use E minor pentatonic When A7 comes in switch to A minor pentatonic you will hear a interesting change in a sound! I will record what I mean tomorrow and will post it here! Those are positions E minor A minor Let me know if you have any questions! -------------------- |
