Could it be that you see the saddles in the middle are higher?
Salles #0 #1 and #2 come in different heights. E and E are called #2 and lower A and B are called #1 and are mid height D and G are called #0 and higher than the others. So the D and G saddles sit higher than the other saddles but that doesn't mean that the D and G strings action is higher than the other strings. Rather the same since the fretboard is curved. The low E and high E could sit on different heights if the tremolo is leaned to either side. ...if any of that helps. -------------------- My bands homepage

Newbies should never get a guitar with a floating tremolo, it just causes headache. Get a guitar with a locked tremolo instead.

Probably northee. Most guitars - including acoustics, have a slight arched profile for the bridge saddles rising towards the middle strings as MickeM has said. This is partly because the fretboard is rarely entirely flat (exception here is the Vigier Shawn Lane custom).
Also if you look at a guitar with a stop tail, like a Gibson LP, the bridge is slightly higher at the bass then the treble end as well as the individual saddles being higher in the middle. This helps compensate for the increasing gauge to stop wolfnotes if strings hit the frets accidently whilst vibrating. With the Floyd only issue usually here is if the Floyd hasn't been correctly put in and 'leans' at an angle on its posts favouring one side. Then it can have uneven spring tension, ground in the cavity and so on. Personally I don't see an issue with a beginner having a floyd or similar - got to start somewhere and if you can start with a floyd why not. Albeit kjutte is right that they are a much more complicated bridge then most. But if they are properly setup then there should be no problems. Friend of mine in Italy just takes his back to the guitar shop when he has to do anything he isn't sure of - part of the deal when he got it. Boy does he make use of that deal  .
