i came up with a really melodic slow Steve Vai style solo, but i dont have a backing, is that ok? or is a backing necessary?

In the rules it' says :

"Basicly, just write a solo(backing optional) which has to be 30 seconds, but I don't want to be to strict it so let's use the 30 seconds limit like a speed limit, a minimum of 25 seconds and a maximum of 35, and post it here"

So that probably means a backing is necessary blink.gif
But Iluha has the final jugement tongue.gif smile.gif

Actually that means the backing ISN'T necessary, only OPTIONAL smile.gif

Fkalich: great one, you made it too long but I'll let it slide because the last 10 seconds are just a repeat of the previous 10 seconds, and plus this is just the first competition so I'm letting alot slide smile.gif thanks for participating!

No. Did take 6 classes of German years ago though. Forgot it all. Now learning your Spanish. Man that is a hard language. German was easy. But it makes sense for any person in the use to learn Spanish now, we will be a bilingual country in the future, that is certain.

Regarding the song, I always liked it. It got a bad name after WWII for totally unfair reasons. Well the melody is Haydn. Then in the 19th century lyrics were written supporting the unification of the German state. Deutschland Uber Alles. Which in it's context was meant to encourage 19th century German people to give up their local loyalties and join in the new German nation. It was not intended to mean that Germany should conquer the world. Had nothing to do with Nazis when it was written. But the Allied propaganda machine made play of it, misinterpreting the lyrics, and this carried forward after the war. In fact I believe it is a criminal offense to sing the first stanza. In fact, by most standards, it is a pretty mild patriotic song. I mean, the French sing about turning their enemies into fertilizer in their national anthem.

Was working some exotic scales. Just imagine a guy tired after a long walk in the Sahara desert ...
Mohammedan in G. And yes, I did all the backing.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
