Hi,

I recently got told that if im going to be recording my guitar to the PC for putting videos up etc that Reaper was one of the best and easiest and so far I agree, but I have a few things I need to ask.

When I record my playing, then stick the actual song or backing track layer in too, when I try to drag it into sequence its like it moves in chunks, I can "smooth" drag if thats the word so I will always be 1/2 a second out or in... is there a way to fix this?

Also what would you recommend for a video recording software for transitions etc, im used to Sony Vegas but does anyone have any other recommendations? I have got Adobe Premier CS3 but havent tried it yet, looks confusing lol.

And last thing, does anyone have video/audio rendering(saving) settings I should use for the likes of Youtube so I get a full sound and video quality?

Thanks,

Rowan

Try right clicking the part to be moved and then setting > Media Item Properties> Position< manually. - accurate to better than 1/100th sec.

Sorry mate but I don't do video so can't comment much. If you are used to Vegas though I'd suggest sticking with it as far as possible rather than learning a whole new program and workflow.

Definitely stick with Vegas as Tony pointed out. Probably one of the best out their for the money.
Also in Reaper, another way to free up the tracks... Not sure how you have your view configured but if you look at the top left, you will see 14 boxes. On the bottom row, you should see an icon like this >I< Click it to Enable the Snap and you will be able to move all tracks freely.

Vegas is great, stick with it mate.

About video settings, MP4 Main Video Concept AVC with a 640x480 frame size and bitrate of 2500kbps will give a reasonable quality.

It's enable snap I think, you have same option in Vegas, Reaper and many other software,
once you disable it you're able to move parts smoothly, without snapping. smile.gif

Also to add to Ivan's video advice, I recently discovered Moya compression software. I have been able to compress a pretty big file down to 15 meg's or so with good quality with these settings...

Video codec: h264
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio bitrate: 192 kit's per sec.

16:9 @ 640X360 (been experimenting with these pixels though)

Also in MP4 format...

I'm not sure whether your questionn has been awnsered already, but if you want to get rid of the "sticking" check on the box with the green buttons on the left top. Now move your mouse to the button on the lower right corner, then move up one button to the left. That's the one tongue.gif click it, and you can slide smoothly.
