Hi Guys

I joined last May then quit.

I bought and signed up for alot of things but i have to tell you, this is a really great place for getting feedback.

So, here I am again

I really need a mentor or someone who can point me in the right direction. the problem that i have is, I will start to learn a song then get frustrated or bored so easily. I then just start strumming stuff , without any rhyme or reason.

I use a thumbpick for everything and really don't want to change that part. i can play most songs that are just chord based, something that you mind find on Ultimate guitar tabs when looking for songs. Lets, just say good enough for the wife and me, probably couldn't play them in public.

Im pretty much still stuck playing stuff like this in the video

Thanks

Jeff

Hi friend! Welcome back!

I notice that one of your problems is that your right hand technique is not precise. You are hitting the strings without any sense and whithout being precise on which strings you want to play. This makes that your playing doesn't sound clear, the chords are not defined and the same happens with melodies and arpeggios.

What's the solution?
Slowing down and listening carefully to the sound that you get from each chord. Identify the roots of each chord to know which is the notes that you have to focus when picking with your thumbpick.

This is a good lesson to start: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Finger...Blues-Patterns/

You can learn it and use the pick when the instructor uses the thumb.

Learn the lesson, practice it and share a video playing it at a tempo that you are comfortable in 7 days to let me check your progress.

What do you think? Do we have a deal? smile.gif

Thanks you guys !

Sounds like a deal Gabriel..Thanks

Are these 4 different patterns https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Finger...Blues-Patterns/ that I can apply to different songs or are they strictly for the lesson ?

Thanks , sorry for my ignorance

Jeff

You're right! This are patterns that can be applied to other songs or your own compositions. You can also use these ones to train your technique and then create your own variations.
