Nocturnal City, My new song !

It starts off pretty laid back but it picks up once all the pretty stuff is over and I get to shred some. I used a handheld recorder outside by storm drain for the rain effect in the intro. Constructive criticsm is appreciated and if you have any pointers on overall sound quality thatd be great. Even if you think it sucks id really like to know what you guys think. Thanks in advance. PS. I see Kris has a song with the word Nocturnal in it but I swear thats a complete coincidence haha. I actually wrote and named the song 2 months ago before I got a chance to record it. I really liked the arrangement. .. but it could use some better sound I'm not really that familiar with Audition, i only know Cubase, but can you give us a list of what you use of hardware and what plugins/instruments etc. you use inside Audition? Sure man, I used an American Series Stratocaster with Seymour Duncan Hot Rails and Cool Rails (bridge and neck) for the clean parts and a Gibson Les Paul from 1986 with an active DiMarzio pickup in the bridge for most of the distorted parts. I just used a cheap Squire 5 string bass for the bass part. I have a Line 6 Toneport KB37 which uses the gearbox software and I used the Westward and Blizzard presets for distortion but I cant remember for sure what clean tones I used. I added on some delay and chorus on the first solo and the harmonics in the bridge. I think the reason why it might sound weird is because the drums were already professional loops but I was messing around with some of the equalizer and some other effects when it probably would have been better to just leave them how they were. It also might have been better if I seperated the tones of the two guitar tracks a little more so that both parts could be more distinct and wouldnt be meshing together as much. Adobe Audtion has a mixing feature that shows each tracks amplitude with green bars and if a track goes to high it turns the box on top of it red. I made sure to try and get each track as close to the box as possible without hitting it, but I think I probably needed to turn the drums down so I could turn up the rythm guitar track. With that setup, you should be able to get some really good sounds, so i guess it's what you said; messed around with EQ's etc too much Making each guitartrack more seperate and distinct would definetly help alot. The frequencies clashed a bit. You havent considered getting some good programmable drums? Like ezDrummer? Brilliant and easy tool, and easy to tweak into what you want it to sound like.
