My old printer stopped working after about 10 years of functioning. I ended up buying a new one, but it HAD to have both color and black ink to function. I didn't like that, because my old one functioned just with black ink in it. I ended up taking the new one back, got my money back, I then took the old one apart and somehow got it functioning again for some years till it stopped working again. I didn't use it enough, so the cartridges would always end up drying out between uses.
At Christmas my dad got me a laser printer though, and I'm very happy with it. It's SO quick and won't dry out the same way etc. I think it's cheaper too in the long run.
