mostly metal, I prefer the earlier tones of Metallica, Testament and such oh and I'm loving a bit of 3 inches of blood atm I have found that the SOB is better for hard rock. You might be able to get some good thrash metal tones out of it, but nothing too over the top. If you aren't really thinking about playing large gigs, check out the Krank Rev Jr. It is a badass little machine within the same price range. I had a chance to play one when my band went to Arizona a couple months ago to pickup our new Krankentstein+ Amplifiers(we were endorsed by Krank) and the Rev Jr really stood out. It had a killer metal tone. I liked it better than some of their full-sized amps, hahaha. My amp technician at Krank uses it for some of the smaller venues his band plays when there isn't a lot of time or space for larger amps. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/search/sear...question=rev+jr -------------------- All the elders have fallen down...

I like the clean tone (from what I've heard on youtube) on the SOB so I've been thinking that maybe a good tube dist. pedal infront would sound pretty good. But hey, cheers for your feedback Nihilist, much appreciated. -------------------- When your fingers bleed you're getting somewhere

Recently purchased, and am currently (immediately) selling a Mesa Studio Caliber DC-2. Doesn't have enough power to hold the cleans loud enough for shows.
Other than that, I LOVE it, and most Mesa amps. -------------------- Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |
